Simon Hess

Bringing 15 years' experience in trade and development Simon has worked as a trade advisor for the Government of Lao PDR, a director of an international development firm, and is currently a Coordinator based at the World Trade Organization. Simon has a Masters' degree in Economics focused on industrial development and trade for which he was recognized by the Economics Society of South Africa. Amongst other areas, Simon's expertise includes areas including regional integration, sustainability certification, and practical trade support. He continues research in areas such as the future direction for Aid for Trade. In his work with the Enhanced Integrated Framework Executive Secretariat based at the WTO Simon coordinates work across a portfolio of Least-developed Countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and is the focal point in the EIF for thematic issues related to the 2030 Development Agenda, Agriculture and SPS/TBT issues.
