Australian Native Food Festival Celebrates Indigenous Culinary Excellence

This Saturday, the CEO of GTPA the pleasure of attending the inaugural Australian Native Food Festival at Sydney’s Carriageworks, and I have to say—it was absolutely fantastic. Curated by Ngemba Weilwan woman Sharon Winsor, founder of Indigiearth, the festival brought together over 20 Indigenous vendors, native food stalls, and immersive cultural experiences.
While I sadly missed out on booking some of the cooking demonstrations led by renowned chefs Kylie Kwong and Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo, it was incredible to see all the vendors in action and sample some truly remarkable produce. I even had the chance to support a few businesses, picking up a gorgeous Lemon Myrtle-inspired face cream and a beautifully refreshing sparkling drink made with native ingredients—both real highlights of the day!
The festival was more than just a food event; it celebrated cultural pride, championed Indigenous entrepreneurship, and highlighted the contributions of First Nations in the culinary industry. Experiencing it firsthand, I can genuinely say this festival has immense potential, and I sincerely hope it continues to grow year after year, inspiring both the public and future generations of Indigenous food innovators.
