Change in business and government is no longer an identifiable event, but rather a constantly and rapidly evolving state.

The future is uncertain, and problems often transcend the boundaries of single organisations and nations.

Businesses operate in an increasingly complex and unpredictable environment in which change occurs at an unprecedented speed and magnitude. It is important that business leaders have access to the right technical trade knowledge and competencies to enable them to take their place in this ever-evolving environment.

The Global Trade Professionals Alliance (GTPA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Academy are delighted to announce a collaboration to ensure business and trade professionals have access to cutting edge global trade training.

The ICC Academy is part of the International Chamber of Commerce – the world’s largest business organization, representing more than 45 million companies in over 100 countries.

The ICC Academy offers a wide range of specialised e-learning courses and online certifications for trade professionals worldwide. All courses and examinations are designed by leading industry experts drawn from the ICC’s global network.

The GTPA has developed the only international standard for certifying trade professionals. The GTP Programme, has been developed under ISO/IEC 17024, for the certification of professional competence in the various global trade disciplines.

Combining the ICC Academy’s world-leading training and the GTPA’s ISO/IEC’s trade certifications, business leaders and trade professionals now have access to a total solution to the challenges they face in the world of international business.

Professionals working across all aspects of trade in a global environment will be eligible to apply.

Speaking on the collaboration, ICC Academy General Manager Daniel Kok said, “In an ever-evolving global trade environment, business leaders and trade professionals need to have better access to cutting-edge training, so as they develop competencies to cope with the ‘new normal’. As the educational arm of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), we have been offering a wide range of specialized online training and blended learning to trade professionals worldwide.

"With our alliance with GTPA, the ICC Academy is aiming to build international trade capacity and capability under ISO/IEC 17024. As a GTPA approved education and course provider, our candidates will now be recognized a Global Trade Professional (GTP), the only international standard for the certification of professional competence in the global trade discipline. With GTPA, we will be able to offer a fast track pathway for certification of ongoing training for global trade professionals to maintain their Continuous Professional Development (CPD)” added Mr Kok, ICC Academy General Manager.

“Those of us in the Trade Finance community have always felt the need for consistent standards for professional development. Too many of us had to learn the business “on the fly” and only via experience. This partnership between the GTPA and the ICC Academy brings together two crucial elements of our business, specific training relating to our profession and specific standards for professional acknowledgement and progression based on a rigorous assessment of life experience combined with on-line learning” said Craig Weeks, Trade and Supply Chain Finance Advisor at the Global Trade Professionals Alliance (GTPA).
