GTPA is pleased to announce that Steve Morris will Chair the Trade Regulation and compliance working committee

In its first year the Trade Regulation and Compliance committee will oversee the development of the ISO/IEC 17024 competency standards on the development of the ISO/IEC 17024 competency standards related to Trade Regulation and Compliance, which will be launched globally in October this year. The Global Trade Professional Programme (GTP) developed under ISO/IEC 17024 will provide the only global pathway for professional experts in the field of Trade Regulation and Compliance to obtain globally recognised certification as a GTP- Trade Regulation and Compliance expert.

GTPA is pleased to announce that Steve Morris who has for over forty years operated in both the public and private sectors in the field of regulatory compliance will Chair the GTPA’s working committee on Trade Regulation and Compliance.

The committee will provide advice to the GTPA’s International and Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC) and the Executive Director of the GTPA on the development of competency standards, quality control, ongoing professional development and the global issues regarding Trade Regulation and compliance.

Steve is a highly motivated and passionate professional with a strong background in international, regional and national regulatory affairs, business development, stakeholder management, policy development and implementation, in-depth knowledge of international trade and regulatory affairs with commercial background gained in the public and private sectors.

For over forty give years he has operated in both the public and private sectors in the field of regulatory compliance, in particular, that related to customs, biosecurity, transport security and other trade related matters. Representation as a director of several international, regional and national non-governmental entities, has seen participation at the United Nations, World Customs Organization , International Civil Aviation Organization and in other international and regional governmental and non governmental fora and he has extensive dealings with customs administrations including United States Customs and Border Protection, and others within the European Union. As an Adjunct Professor with the University of Canberra, he holds a Masters of Justice and other qualifications in law, accounting and international trade.
