Strengthening SME Voice in Supply Chain Policy and Regional Dialogue

SMEs are disproportionately affected by supply chain disruption, yet their voice is often underrepresented in policy development and regional trade discussions.

SME support organisations have a critical role to play in addressing this gap.

They act as intermediaries between business reality and policy design — translating operational challenges into structured input for government and industry stakeholders.

However, this role requires strengthened capability, data, and structured engagement mechanisms.

The Building Supply Chain Resilience Program supports organisations in enhancing their capacity to engage meaningfully in supply chain policy discussions, ensuring that SME perspectives are better represented in regional decision-making.

This includes strengthening institutional understanding of:

  • Supply chain vulnerabilities and systemic risks
  • Trade and logistics disruption impacts
  • SME competitiveness constraints
  • Emerging regulatory and ESG requirements

By strengthening institutional capability, the program enables organisations to play a more active role in shaping outcomes that directly affect SMEs.
